Farm Bureau endorses Mettee-McCutchon for supervisor Cattlemen, YF&Rs, Marilyn Remark Winery and Farm Bureau will host a barbecue for Ila May 21 After hearing presentations from both candidates for the District 4 supervisor’s seat in the June 2008 election, Monterey County Farm Bureau directors voted unanimously to endorse Ila Mettee-McCutchon. Mettee-McCutchon brings a practical understanding of government, business and the economy to the job of supervisor, Farm Bureau said. "She understands land use issues, but she has also demonstrated enthusiasm to listen and to learn," said a Farm Bureau spokesman. Mettee-McCutchon was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to finish the unexpired term of the late Supervisor Jerry Smith. She previous served as mayor of Marina and was on the Marina City Council for over ten years. She served in the U.S. Army for 26 years, including as Presidio of Monterey and Fort Ord Garrison Commander and Commandant of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center. She is seeking election to a four-year term on the Board of Supervisors beginning in January 2009. Her website is http://www.ila4supervisor.com/Ila_for_Supervisor.html.
